With strong foundations in economics, sustainability, innovation, and education systems, Dr. Ekram has built a distinguished profile that bridges academia, development practice, and strategic consultancy.

At  Edex Global Nexus, Dr. Ekram serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Consultant where he provides overall strategic leadership and institutional direction. In this role, he oversees the design and delivery of education consultancy services, research initiatives, professional training programs, and organizational development projects at national and international levels. His work focuses on strengthening institutional capacity, improving academic and professional standards, and building sustainable partnerships with universities, research organizations, development agencies, and corporate stakeholders. Under his leadership, Edex Global Nexus is positioning itself as a knowledge-driven organization committed to innovation, ethical practice, and global relevance, with a strong focus on education, migration, and career counselling services that connect opportunities across both national and international arenas.

At Edex Global Nexus, Dr. Ekram’s responsibilities extend beyond administration into thought leadership across education, migration, and youth career counselling, with a strategic focus on connecting opportunities between national and international arenas. He leads the development of strategic proposals, policy frameworks, and institutional outreach to diverse clients, while ensuring rigorous quality assurance in program design and service delivery. His leadership emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and continuous improvement, fostering an organizational culture rooted in excellence, accountability, and lifelong learning. To be mentioned, Dr. Ekram is also a British Council Certified Counsellor. Through his guidance, multidisciplinary teams of consultants, researchers, trainers, and advisors are empowered to deliver high-impact outcomes that support students, professionals, and institutions, while aligning with both local priorities and global standards.

Parallel to his role at Edex Global Nexus, Dr. Ekram also serves as Executive Director and Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Research Innovation and Development (CRID), Dhaka. In this capacity, he leads national-level research initiatives focused on renewable energy, climate change, sustainability, and development policy. He has guided research teams, designed and implemented studies, and produced policy briefs and academic outputs aimed at influencing decision-makers and contributing to evidence-based policymaking. His engagement with CRID reflects his continued commitment to knowledge generation and social impact.

Dr. Ekram has also contributed significantly as a Consultant to the Department of Environment (DoE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Bangladesh. Between 2021 and 2023, he supported major national climate and environmental initiatives, including projects related to emissions monitoring, transparency frameworks, and reporting under the Paris Agreement. His work involved developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, preparing technical and policy reports, engaging with government stakeholders, and contributing to capacity-building initiatives. Through this role, he played an important part in strengthening Bangladesh’s institutional capacity for climate governance and international reporting.

Before returning to Bangladesh for senior leadership and consultancy roles, Dr. Ekram built a strong academic career in China. He served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Research Faculty (Assistant Professor) at the Business School of Hohai University, Nanjing, one of the country’s recognized institutions for research in economics, management, and sustainability. During his tenure, he taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses across a wide range of subjects including microeconomics, macroeconomics, international trade, development economics, environmental economics, business law, research methods, and entrepreneurship. His teaching was informed by both theoretical depth and real-world application, earning him recognition for academic excellence and student engagement.

At Hohai University, Dr. Ekram was actively involved in research leadership. He served as Principal Investigator, Co-Principal Investigator, and team member in several national and provincial research projects funded by major research bodies in China. His work addressed complex issues such as the water–energy–food nexus, green development strategies, sustainable trade, regional integration, innovation ecosystems, and environmental governance. His contributions extended beyond research production to academic governance, curriculum development, program accreditation, and student supervision. He co-guided postgraduate and doctoral students, supported early-career researchers, and contributed to the intellectual life of the institution through seminars, workshops, and academic forums.

Prior to his postdoctoral appointment, Dr. Ekram worked as a Research Associate and Research Assistant at the Institute of Industrial Economics, Hohai University, where he played a central role in project design, data analysis, stakeholder coordination, and academic reporting. These early research roles allowed him to develop strong methodological expertise, particularly in quantitative analysis, policy evaluation, and applied economic research. His experience in conducting baseline studies, feasibility assessments, impact evaluations, and large-scale data analysis laid the foundation for his later success as a senior researcher and consultant.

Dr. Ekram’s academic journey is distinguished by strong credentials and international exposure. He holds a PhD in Technology Economics and Management from the Business School of Hohai University (AMBA accredited), where his doctoral work focused on international trade, competitiveness, and economic development. He also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Hohai University, further deepening his research portfolio. In addition, he was a Visiting Collaborative Researcher at the Columbia Water Center, Columbia University, New York, where he engaged with global scholars on sustainability, water governance, and development issues. His academic background also includes a Master of Economics in International Trade, a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Chemistry, and formal training in Chinese language, reflecting both intellectual versatility and cross-cultural competence.

Dr. Ekram has made substantial contributions to global scholarship. He has authored and co-authored more than thirty peer-reviewed academic publications in reputable international journals and conference proceedings. His research covers areas such as international trade, sustainable development, circular economy, competitiveness, climate change, innovation, and development policy. His academic work has been presented at numerous international conferences across Asia, Europe, and North America, contributing to global academic discourse. In addition to academic publishing, he has produced policy reports and briefs for institutions such as the Department of Environment, FAO, and research centers, ensuring that research findings inform practical decision-making.

Beyond academia and consultancy, Dr. Ekram has demonstrated strong leadership in knowledge platforms and professional communities. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Circular Tribune, a publication dedicated to circular economy, sustainability, and ESG issues, where he defines editorial vision and promotes high-quality discourse on sustainable transitions. He has also held leadership roles in academic and professional forums, including serving as Academic Director of the Hohai Research Forum and Coordinator (International) of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Hohai University. He has co-founded initiatives such as ResearchX, an EdTech startup focused on innovation and knowledge sharing, further reflecting his entrepreneurial and strategic mindset.
